EUCLID, Ohio -- A girl who was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Euclid earlier this month has died, police said.

De'Zyre Mays, 9, died Tuesday from injuries she suffered in the Nov. 9th crash, Euclid police said in a news release.

Mays was struck by a car about 7 a.m. on Babbitt Road near East 232nd Street. The car drove away after the crash.

Officers found the car a short time later at a nearby gas station.

The driver, Lacynthia Tidmore, 23, called Euclid police later and turned herself in.

Tidmore was charged with hit-skip, an unclassified felony, court records show. Additional charges are possible, police said Thursday.

A benefit dinner will be held Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 23001 Euclid Avenue (Euclid Prep School) to help Mays' parents pay for funeral and medical costs.

Funeral arrangements for the 9-year-old will be held at Cummings and Davis Funeral Home in East Cleveland at 13201 Euclid Avenue. Service time as yet to be determined.
