The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal vehicle crash

City of Alliance - The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash which occurred on March 23, 2019 at approximately 7:05 PM.  The crash occurred on W. Main Street at the intersection of S. Lincoln Avenue, in the City of Alliance, Stark County, Ohio.     

Larry E. McKitrick Jr., 45, of Alliance, was operating a white 2000 Toyota Avalon westbound on W. Main Street. Tate R. Arick, 22, of Alliance was a passenger in the vehicle. Susan J. Ciotti, 71, of Alliance, was operating a white 2013 Chrysler 200 southbound on S. Lincoln Avenue.  Mr. McKitrick failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection and was struck by Mrs. Ciotti on the right side. Mr. McKitricks vehicle then overturned into the eastbound lane of W. Main Street and struck a parked motor vehicle. 

Mrs. Ciotti sustained non-incapacitating injuries during the crash.  She was transported from the scene to Alliance Community Hospital by Alliance City EMS, where she was treated for injuries and released. Mr. McKitrick sustained non-incapacitating injuries during the crash. He was transported from the scene to Mercy Medical Center by EMT Squad and remained at the hospital for observation.

Mr. Arick was partially ejected from the vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries during the traffic crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was transported from the scene to the Stark County Coroners Office by Ambulance Associates. 

Alliance Police Department and Alliance Fire Department/ EMS assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol during the crash investigation.

Alcohol and safety belt use is believed to be a factor in the traffic crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
