State Patrol Investigating Fatal Traffic Crash

Lisbon: The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash that took place at the intersection on Georgetown Road and Westville Lake Road in Knox Township, Columbiana County at 1106 hours on today's date.

Unit # 1 Vehicle: 2010 Chevrolet Truck. Sustained heavy front end damage and was towed from the scene by Reichenbach 's Towing.

Unit # 1 Driver: 17 year old driver from Bandy Rd, Alliance, OH 44601. Sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Salem Regional Medical Center. Seatbelt was in use by Unit # 1 Driver.

Unit # 2 Vehicle: 2002 Toyota Truck. Sustained disabling passenger side damage and was towed from the scene by Reichenbach 's Towing.

Unit # 2 Driver: Lloyd W. Berresford, Jr., age 76 of Hanoverton, OH, sustained fatal injuries and was transported to Alliance Community Hospital by Beloit Fire/ EMS where he was pronounced deceased. Seatbelt was not in use by Unit #2 Driver.

Unit # 1 was eastbound on Georgetown Road as Unit #2 was southbound on Westville Lake Road stopped at the stop sign at Westville Lake Rd. and Georgetown Road. Unit # 2 failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of Unit #1 and was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle.

North Georgetown Fire/EMS along with Beloit Fire/EMS assisted on the scene.

No alcohol/drugs suspected in this crash as it remains under investigation.
