State Highway Patrol Chardon Post Investigating Fatal Crash in Parkman Township

Parkman Township - The Ohio State Highway Patrol Chardon Post is investigating a one vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality.

At approximately 08:44 A.M, on December 18, 2018, troopers responded to a traffic crash on SR 88 in Parkman Township.

Unit #1 was a 2008 Dodge Caravan, driven by Abner 0. McDaniel, 63 years old, of Mesopotamia Ohio. Mr. McDaniel reportedly had a medical episode before the crash occurred. Mr.

McDaniel was not wearing a seatbelt. Mr. McDaniel had one passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash. James Troyer, 23 years old, sustained no injuries. Mr. McDaniel was taken to University Hospital Geauga Medical Center.

Preliminary investigation shows Unit #1 was traveling east on State Route 88. The driver of unit #1 had a medical episode. Unit #1 traveled off the right side of the roadway striking the ditch and a culvert. Unit #1 came to final rest in a field off the right side of the roadway.

Parkman Fire were on scene assisting.

The crash is still under investigation by the Chardon Patrol Post.
